What is BIM?

Building Information Modeling allows the virtual design, construction and operation of a building by developing and testing a digital prototype in advance of its physical realisation, thus delivering greater cost certainty, eliminating error, improving programme duration and reducing risk.

AJP have a longstanding tradition in delivering projects in the BIM environment, with an ongoing commitment and development of BIM capabilities, skill sets and training of staff members.

AJP are involved in many BIM projects where, co-ordinating and collaborating with Contractors, Architects and Building Services, we ensure that they are fully integrated into the BIM process and deliver projects to current industry wide BIM protocols, British and International Standards. Our own AJP teams working on BIM projects will have varying degrees of integration with the rest of the design team, depending on BIM maturity of the design team, from full sharing, co-location and IFC exchange of the BIM (openBIM), to single environment models.

Within Alan Johnston Partnership, we are continuously testing and pushing the boundaries of what our software can do. Maintaining consistent modelling practices and standards, we aim to deliver as many projects as we can in a BIM environment to our client’s benefit. As part of our commitment to BIM all our staff have on-going training in BIM and ISO 19650 to ensure the maximum efficiencies and benefits can be found from using BIM on projects.
