BIM Accreditations

BSI Kitemark Level 2 BIM is an accreditation acknowledging the management and accurate exchange of data contained within the separate discipline BIM tools with other disciplines, such as Structural, Architectural or Services (MEP) and collaborating on a common model. Models created by design teams during the co-ordination phase and run though clash detection software, reduce requests for information (RFIs) and changes during construction.

Level 2 BIM is managing and exchanging the data contained within the separate discipline BIM tools with other disciplines, such as Structural, Architectural or Services (MEP) and collaborating on a common model. Models created by design teams during the co-ordination phase and run though clash detection software, reduce requests for information (RFIs) and changes during construction. This level of BIM may utilise 4D construction sequencing and/or 5D cost information. The Government’s aim is for the industry to achieve this level by 2016. The UK Government in 2014 refined its definition of level 2 BIM as the following eight components, where more guidance can be found:

  • PAS 1192-2:2013 Specification for information management for the capital/delivery phase of construction projects using building information modelling
  • PAS 1192-3:2014 Specification for information management for the operational phase of assets using building information modelling
  • BS 0151 227 1462 Collaborative production of information. Part 4: Fulfilling employers information exchange requirements using
  • COBie – Code of practice
  • PAS 0151 227 1462 Specification for security-minded building information management, digital built environments and smart asset management.
  • Building Information Model (BIM) Protocol
  • GSL (Government Soft Landings)
  • Digital Plan of Work
  • Classification
